09/06-2009 15:58, Bishkek – News Agency “24.kg”
Border service of Kyrgyzstan confirmed the information that Uzbek side unilaterally has begun to construct protecting structures and trenches on the state border.
Headquarters of the Kyrgyz Border Service informed the news agency “24.kg” that Uzbek side really has begun to construct fences on Kyrgyz-Uzbek border without any notifications and coordination.
The works are ongoing on the borderline of Suzak, Aksy and Nookat regions of the republic.
The Kyrgyz Border service is concerned about actions of the neighboring country.
“There are some treaty obligations and a number of intergovernmental documents between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan according to which none of two countries has right to take any actions including construction and fencing up to completion of Kyrgyz-Uzbek borders’ demarcation. We have to state that Tashkent breaks previously made agreements,” Border service of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to the Russian news agency Fergana.ru “excavation of trenches began after events on May 25.”
Gunmen attacked the police roadblock in Khanabad, Andijan region on the night of May 26. According to Uzbek authorities the criminals got into region from Kyrgyzstan. However the Kyrgyz side has denied the information.
